The following awardees are included in the pilot round of Capacity Building Grants:
- Chicago State University
- George Mason University
- Georgia State University
- Spelman College
- Visibility in STEM, LLC
These institutions were invited to participate in the pilot based on a semi-random sampling of institutions, ensuring geographic dispersion, that:
- had previously applied for PhysTEC funding,
- are a current MSI, and
- have faculty who work on physics education or physics teacher education.
Each awardee receives up to $15,000 in funding along with ongoing support from PhysTEC staff over a one-year period. Their projects include recruiting students into existing teacher preparation programs, a programmatic inventory, and the development of creating culturally engaging physics curricular materials.
