PhysTEC Website
The PhysTEC program at Arkansas develops student interest in physics with inquiry-based introductory courses, guides potential teachers through the licensure process, and mentors them during the early years of their professional lives. Arkansas has a Learning Assistants program that has played a significant role in recruitment and retention of new teachers. Course reforms in the calculus-based introductory sequence have proven quite successful in producing learning gains, independent of instructor. The physical science for elementary teachers course is now required for all elementary education majors. The university has also funded a TIR position in the College of Education and Health Professions, which gives the physics department a strong ally in the College.
