The PhysTEC program at Arizona is built around the College of Science Teacher Preparation Program (CoS TPP), and has graduated an average of two teachers per project year (up from one in three years pre-PhysTEC), with a far higher than average retention rate. The PI has conducted extensive outreach to the local teacher community in developing the TPP, including establishing an active TAG and involving teachers in pedagogy curriculum development. Course reform has met with some success, but also a certain amount of departmental resistance.
